What Sparked your passion?

I've always been drawn to the beauty found in everyday life — a flower in bloom, a sunlit table, the small, simple moments that often go unnoticed. Painting allows me to slow down and truly see the richness in these ordinary things. My passion for creating grew from a deep love of color, nature, and the joy of capturing fleeting moments on canvas. Over time, it became not just a practice, but a way of connecting with the world around me and sharing that sense of wonder with others.

How would you describe your artistic journey?

My artistic journey has been a gradual unfolding, much like the subjects I love to paint. In the beginning, I was focused on capturing detail and realism, wanting to honor the beauty I saw around me. As time went on, I found myself embracing a bolder, more expressive use of color and line. I started to lean into the joy of painting itself — letting vibrant palettes, playful patterns, and textured brushwork become just as important as the subject. Every piece now feels like a celebration: of nature, of everyday life, and of the freedom that comes from creating with heart and intuition.

What do you hope people feel when viewing your artwork?

I hope people feel a sense of warmth, joy, and connection when they view my artwork. I want my paintings to remind them of the simple beauty that exists all around us — in a bunch of flowers, a sunlit room, or a shared meal. If my work can spark a feeling of comfort, nostalgia, or even a quiet moment of happiness, then I feel I’ve achieved something truly special

Are there any Aussie influences that inspire your artwork?

I find a lot of inspiration in the work of Australian artists. Margaret Preston’s bold still lifes and her love of color and pattern really resonate with me. I also admire Clarice Beckett’s softer, more atmospheric approach — the way she captures the quiet beauty of everyday scenes feels very connected to what I hope to express in my own work.

Cressida Campbell’s detailed still lifes and her focus on the beauty of interiors and domestic spaces inspire me to look closely and appreciate the small details. Nora Heysen’s flower paintings, with their beautiful realism and strong compositions, have also been an important influence.

Margaret Olley’s vibrant, joyful interiors and still lifes are a huge inspiration — her celebration of color, life, and everyday beauty is something I really connect with. I’m also drawn to Lucy Culliton’s playful and textured paintings of gardens and animals, and the personal warmth she brings to her work.

Even though our styles are different, I admire Ben Quilty’s bold, expressive use of paint and the emotional weight he brings to his subjects. That kind of freedom and connection in the creative process is something I aspire to bring into my own practice.
